Tape Reader Conversions
If you have a CNC with only a paper tape reader (no RS232 port), we can help.
RYM offers two different Behind the Tape Reader (BTR) solutions to bring your
CNC all the way up into the mid-80's. Load to memory or drip-feed - just like
your controller would do from a paper tape reader.
Software BTRs
Our first BTR solution is a software based BTR for Fanuc and Yasnac CNC
controllers. The advantage of this system is that it costs less than adding a
physical BTR board and a physical BTR board does not come bundled with software
- you will either have to purchase that seperately or provide your own. If you
have an old PC with a parallel printer port lying around that you can locate
within 5' of your CNC controller, try this economical and easy to install
solution.

BTR Boards
If you have a different type of controller not supported by a software BTR, or
you want the flexibility of connecting to a larger DNC system without placing a
computer right by the CNC, our AMI BTR boards are just the ticket. Available for
a vast majority of CNCs and tape readers ever manufactured, we almost certainly
have the model you need.

Extended Keypads
If you are using PC-DNC plus and would like to request files right from the CNC
controller, you know that the keyboard on your CNC must have all of the
characters in your file name or else you won't be able to get your file.
Additionally, some CNCs are more cumbersome to use for remote requests than
others. To solve both of these problems and make it easy to perform remote
requests from any CNC, we have matched a customized keypad to specialized
software to make an easy alternative for remote requests.
