Tape Reader Conversions
|
|
If your CNC has no RS-232 capability, but does have a
tape reader, you have come to the right place. Our tape reader
conversion kits (often known as BTR's - Behind the Tape Readers) will
allow you to communicate directly with your CNC without the need for
paper tape. |

PC-DNC Editor
with Tape Reader Emulation |
|
|
| |
PC-DNC Editor Multiport with the BTR option is an
ideal solution for customers with older Fanuc or Yasnac CNC controls who
do not have RS-232 capability. This easy to install kit will connect
your CNC to a PC via your parallel printer port. By placing a PC close
to the CNC, you have a number of advantages over a standard CNC: You
have a much more convenient way to edit your files than on your CNC, you
can watch your program scroll as you run with several lines before and
after instead of only being able to see the current line, the system is
very easy to install and use, and finally - it is significantly less
expensive! This kit also works for users with Fanuc 6 controls who need
to drip feed but can not do so through the RS232 port. Compatible with
Windows 95/98/Me or Windows NT4/2000. New!
Windows XP is now supported! DOS version also available upon request. PC-DNC Editor
with Tape Reader Emulation is best suited for customers who:
- Need a BTR for Fanuc or Yasnac CNC's
- Can place a PC near the CNC (within 10 to 15
feet)
- Do not need to transfer files out of the
CNC (our recommendation is to edit files on the PC instead, since it
will be so close)
- Do not need to connect to a PC-DNC plus
or other multi-port DNC system

Advanced Digital
Research BTR's |
|
|
| |
The ADR BTR is a completely solid state,
ultra-reliable replacement for your paper tape reader. By transferring
files directly from your PC into your CNC's memory (or drip-feeding your
CNC), you will save lots of time and eliminate the need for costly paper
tape punches. This board has interfaces for virtually all machines and
tape reader types. Ideally it is mounted inside the CNC cabinet with
screws, velcro, or other fasteners. Power comes from either your DC
current bus inside your CNC or from the included AC adapter. With the
proper cable, it is possible to punch programs out of the CNC to the
computer, also. Advanced
Digital Research BTR's are best suited for customers who:
- Have any type of CNC or tape reader
- Would like to be able to send files back to the
PC
- Need to hook up to PC-DNC plus, PC-DNC
Editor, or any other DNC package
- Require connection to any type of computer
(Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP, Mac, Unix, Linux, etc)

Rybett CamStore
LPT BTR's |
| |
| |
Rybett CamStore BTR's are no longer a primary
product since they are not designed to run under modern versions of
Windows, however we still carry them for paper tape conversion. If you
have paper tapes (such as EXEC tapes) which need to be loaded into your
PC, you can do the job yourself using a CamStore and your CNC's working
paper tape reader. Most BTR's do not allow you to transfer from paper
tape to a PC file - but the Rybett CamStore is one of the few with this unique
capability. Simply attach the tape reader to the CamStore LPT BTR and
attach the BTR to the Bi-Directional parallel port on your DOS, Windows
95, or Windows 98 PC and start converting your files! The resulting tape
files can be used with any of our other BTR solutions. These units are
also adequate if you wish to connect a DOS computer to your CNC, and do
not need Windows capability. Because these
units are available by special order, we can not provide more detailed
information online. Please contact us at (408) 224-9167 with the make
and model of your CNC control for additional information. |
